Rafael Nadal defeated Roger Federer 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 in a match that was reminiscent of a classic match between the two tennis greats in the Western and Southern Open quarterfinals in Cincinnati. Rafa will next face Tomas Berdych.
The first set was tense, especially more so for those that expected an easy match, considering now Rafa has been playing recently. Rafa had more unforced errors and fewer wins than Federer, who took the set 7-5. The second set was more favorable to Rafa, who stepped up his game considerably. He broke late and took the set 6-4. The third set went Rafa’s way after a break in the second game, and Rafa took the set 6-3.
