  3. Hi,

A year and 7 days ago I got t-shirt from you Rafa. There is written EVERY PRACTICE IS IMPORTANT. GOOD LUCK!!! I only wanna say thanks to you Rafa, because this t-shirt gives me positive thinking when I’m tired on the court and then I work hard to be as good as you. My biggest dream is to met you and play some tennis because I’m left-handed. One more big thanks to you, this was the best B-Day present in my life.

Thanks and play as good as you can and won Australian Open because that the place from where this t-shirt comes from. VAMOS RAFA!!!

  4. Thanks for a great website and email service. I love it, not just for the news and updates – which are great – but also because the tone is so pleasant and professional . ( You may know that the fan sites of some rivals have a go at other players, and I think that’s unsporting) . Well done RNF xx

  5. Hi RNF, you do a great jobb with this page. Keep going. I am keen of tennis and a big fan of Rafa:-)
    Vamos!

  6. Rafa, wishing you the best in Miami. Indian Wells have come and gone, just rise and show you are the best. Trust you can achieve greater heights this year. We are all looking up to you and The Lord will see you through amen.

  7. Phoenix: Born of the Ashes, Branded by Fire

It’s just a few hours after Rafael lost to Djokie, and I am writing this. I know Rafa won’t read it, and others would never mind either. Nevertheless, let me waste my time crafting this.

I am eight hours ahead of London, so the match started while I was still sleeping. In circumstances like this, where time zones are a predicament, I usually check my Facebook or Twitter account upon waking up to look for updates. And so I did the same this morning. My news feeds are usually flooded with Rafael Nadal (RN) posts whenever I do this routine. But now it was eerie. And so I thought the result was unfavorable. It was then confirmed by a post I later saw upon scrolling more.

    How do I feel?

To be very honest, it’s a gloomy news to start the day. I feel like my mind is floating in the air. For instance, I almost forgot to get my change after I bought a sandwich. The vendor had to call my attention. Whew, but enough of that.

It’s an excruciating and poignant feeling. I feel sad and disappointed. To some extent, I am mad – even if I don’t have the right to.

I read this comment in FB from a post in the Fan Club page: “Next year I will become the biggest nole fan…rafa I hope u retired very soon…NO HOPE WITH YOU.”

Rather than getting mad, I smiled. This just goes to show that this person (I will rather not disclose the name) has so much affection for Rafa. I believe that his (now at least you know it’s not a woman) heart crushed the moment RN lost in WTF. It’s as if saying: WTF (What the f*ck), when will ever that WTF (World Tour Finals) elusive trophy be ever won? At some points, you can’t blame die-hard fanatics (Rafaholics for that matter) to be angry. I believe that is a natural reaction. And besides, can you control your feelings? But I know that is just a reaction at the onset, and will eventually cool down afterwards. If we contemplate, there might be a deeper reason for acting that way. It roots from an unfathomable melancholy that’s hard to bear, that needs to be released. Yes, some may be angry now, but observe. Will they ever give up on Rafa? Will they ever stop supporting him in the long run? It is likewise a manifestation of trust and confidence to the player. If you don’t support someone, would you have reacted that way?

To quote Marilyn Monroe: “But if you can’t handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don’t deserve me at my best.”

This cliché is very much applicable and serves as a reminder that not all the time, one is on top. It cannot always be a happy and blissful time. How can you enjoy and see the rainbow if there is no little rain? In instances when we can do nothing, there is always the word, acceptance.

    It isn’t even RN’s worst.

2013 is one great year for him, perhaps one of the greatest years in his career. What we fail to realize is there are so much to be thankful and celebrate for, because we delve and focus into the losses. What is seven compared to 2 Grand Slams, 5 Masters and a lot more?

My country has a very little interest in tennis, unlike in basketball and boxing. Not many are playing the sport probably because of the cost of the equipment and courts. I got interested in tennis a few years ago, but it was only in this year that my drive was intensified.

How did I come to know Rafael? I really cannot exactly recall. But here I am now supporting him.

I had to at least have an idea about the tennis world so I read some history as a background. Needless to mention, I read as much articles as I could about RN. As time went by, I have nothing but pure admiration on him. He values his family so much. He is generous helper via his foundation. But one thing that makes me consider him as hero is his DETERMINATION and never-say-die attitude. He fights for every point and never loses the focus. That’s grace under pressure. He came from a 7-month lay-off and has gone through difficult moments in life, but he rose up. I hope I have these qualities too. I wish I were a fierce FIGHTER just like him.

There’s so much to look forward to in 2014. I hope RN will continue to be Numero Uno in year-end 2014. I wish he will exude more CONFIDENCE & MOTIVATION! (How about the courage to fire more net points? 😀 ) Let not that 2011 nightmare of 7-match losing streak against Djokie ever happen again!

From the fighter he is, I know he will find ways to improve and create tactics to LEVEL-UP his game, yet some more. I hope that a bomb will be unleashed next year!

It has been a year of rollercoaster emotions. Thanks to Rafael Nadal Fan Club for the updates. Thanks guys, you are (to quote Rafa’s favorite adjective) FANTASTIC! May we all have a fruitful and better year ahead.

And to my one and only hero, thanks for just being who you are!

I know it’s quite early but, Happy Holidays!

     Laban (Fight) and Vamos! 🙂

    • That’s quite an eloquent message! Rafa is simply the best and will prevail in 2014. Thank you for the kind words to us. We appreciate you being here and being our reader. A very Happy Holidays to you too 🙂 Vamos! -Team RNF

    • Hi, Cleave. I have just recently found the time to dig into this wonderful site and I am so very excited to make up for the lost time. That is the reason for this belated reaction to your comment posted last November 2013. Nice write-up. Written from the heart. How did I know that? Because I felt the same way too, And I am sure millions of Rafa fans felt the pain too, then. But I am certain also that the elusive WTF title would be Rafa’s soon, maybe this year. Who knows? I felt so heavy too after Rafa lost to Djoko at Miami this year. But as Rafa would have it, forget the last point, focus on the next. Tuloy ang laban! Hope to read from you again, Cleave. More power to the RafaelNadalFC admin, editors and writers. And of course, Vamos, Rafa!
