Roland Garros has published an interview with Rafael Nadal today to get us warmed up for what’s coming later — Rafa’s official farewell ceremony at Roland Garros.
In the interview, we hear Rafa recalling his first time at Roland Garros in 2004. He said, “Hopefully next year I will be able to do good things here.” Just a year later, he won his first title there.
Our champ also said this: “At the end, I am only a very good tennis player, that’s true. That’s a thing. But for the rest of the things in life, that are the most important things, I am just another human person.”
Check out the video below to see how he reflects on his other titles and why it was so special when Uncle Toni gave him the trophy during the ceremony for his tenth Roland Garros title.
