“Of course, it’s beautiful to play against one of the two biggest rivals that I had in my career, especially on this court. But situations are completely different for (Djokovic), for me. He’s been very competitive. I was not being very competitive for the last two years, so in that case, I think probably he is the clear favorite. I’m going to try my best to bring the best to the court and then let’s see how far I can go and how many problems I can create (for) him.”

“Playing him is like a final in any tournament, and particularly here, knowing what he has achieved and what he’s done for our sport, particularly here in Roland Garros. It’s going to be possibly the last time we’re gonna face each other on a big stage.”

Novak Djokovic

It will be just the second time the two all-time leaders in men’s Grand Slam singles titles match up in Olympic competition. Rafa defeated Nole in three sets in the semifinals of the 2008 Beijing Games, where Rafa went on to win gold. The pair have also met on 10 occasions on the Roland Garros red clay, where Rafa leads 8-2.

GOOD LUCK & VAMOS RAFA!

  1. Good to see Rafa is fit and playing quite well. No double faults or too many unforced errors, which bodes well for double. Djokovic is of course one level too high though, he has a triple career grand slam, all those wtf titles and all masters twice, for a reason. No shame in losing to someone who is better.

  2. Feeling terrible watching this match. Too soon after Fucsovics for someone who is still recovering.

  3. Get the jab (or abortion) or get locked up. Because the doctors and people of science say so! says:

Quite an unfair way to pretend he is the underdog. Djokovic had an operation not even a month ago.

    • Djokovic is the No. 1 Seed and No.2 in the World Rankings and reached the Wimbledon Final, whereas Rafa has been plagued with serious career threatening injuries throughout the last two years. Clearly Djokovic’s operation a few weeks ago was minor surgery. Otherwise he would have had to take a much longer break in order to recover from it. So Rafa is being honest. He always is. Rafa is the underdog. Rafa NEVER pretends to be anything. That is why he is so admired and respected as a person. His outstanding record speaks for his tennis.

  4. Rafa epitomizes the Olympic spirit. On and off the court, he is an exemplary human
being. We send you our collective positivity-all the best in your quest to succeed.
We know how you will fight👏🤛👍💪🍀🎾❤️

  5. Good luck Rafa! I’ll be up rooting for you for the win!

If Rafa’s forehand down the line is in good form, our champ has a great chance. Get it done champ!

  6. We know the hugely partisan crowd will support Rafa all the way and send Rafa lots of love in his match against Djokovic.

  7. JUST DO IT! As in the Nike mantra….

The world is behind you in this judged by the roar when Zinedine Zidane passed on the torch to you. I can feel it. As well as replicate the vibes on that day, 30 January 2022 in Rod Laver Arena, then magnify it exponentially with the spirit of all the people who love you the whole world over…..

  8. Rafa, best of luck and go for it! You can and will beat Djokovic!

The weather calls for warm sunny skies.

Djokovic does not have any good wins on clay this year.

Rafa, you have had many battles on clay and know how to come out on top.
