If Rafael Nadal decides to compete in singles, he will begin his Paris 2024 Olympics campaign against Marton Fucsovics in the first round on Sunday afternoon. This will be the first meeting between them.

Rafa, who is already competing in doubles, told the Spanish press that he will decide about playing singles in the coming hours after consulting with his team.

Date: July 28, 2024

Match time: Rafa is scheduled as the second match on Court Philippe Chatrier. Around 2 PM local time / 8 AM EDT – New York, Montreal / 1 PM BST – United Kingdom / 2 PM CET – Spain, France, Germany, Italy / 2 PM SAST – South Africa / 5:30 PM IST – New Delhi / 10 PM AEST – Melbourne.  To convert to your local time, use this website.

A victory over the Hungarian would set up a highly anticipated second-round showdown with Novak Djokovic, who has already advanced by defeating Matthew Ebden in his opening match.

GOOD LUCK & VAMOS RAFA!

  1. Rafa doesn’t need to play singles! His draw is too hard and he already has a gold in singles

  2. Here’s what Rafa said about his match against Marton Fucsovics after the doubles match with Carlos Alcaraz: “I’m playing at 14:00? I do not understand the schedule, but what can you do? I can not tell you much about tomorrow, and my singles match.

I have to return to the Olympic Village and speak to my team. I have to make the most suitable decision to give myself more chances to win a medal for Spain. I’m not saying I will withdraw, but I have to speak with everyone first and decide tonight or tomorrow morning,” Rafael Nadal said.

So, it will be a “smart” decision that Rafa will make by tomorrow. In my view, Rafa will want to do what’s best to maximize at least a medal for Spain.

  3. We know Rafa will make the wise decision. He would like to bring a medal home for Spain, so if he thinks the singles matches will be too much on his body, he likely won’t participate. But I like that he seems to be signalling that he’ll continue to play (post olympics) as he said at his press conference “who says the olympcis will be his last dance with Djokovic”? It would be such a treat to see him continue to play over the coming months!!!

  4. Rafa is understandably very unhappy with the scheduling. They really aren’t allowing him sufficient rest after his not finishing with the press until 10 pm. He will discuss with his team and Dr. Cotorro in the morning re:whether or not to play. In light of his thigh problem it is probably wise to forget about singles.
