Rafael Nadal’s Australian Open preparation will continue in Melbourne after his journey at the Brisbane International came to an end on Friday night. After a three-and-a-half-hour battle, our champ was defeated by Jordan Thompson with a scoreline of 7-5, 6-7(6), 3-6 at the Queensland Tennis Center. Notably, Rafa came close to victory with having three match points in the second set.
We all need to be patient – his ongoing recovery from injury requires additional time to address certain aspects, but let’s hope he stays healthy, and the desired results will certainly follow.

It hurst when Rafa loses after having 3MPs but also he brought me so much joy this week that tomorrow I will feel much better especially if he is not injured and doesn’t skip Aussie Open.
Pain sensation might be from humidity and tiredness.. Its normal to feel pain kind of feeling in the abdomen when you sweat buckets.. I hope it not a serious one.
Well at Rafa’s presser he said that he felt a small sensation in a similar place as his surgery, but it’s too early to know anything. He said it might only be “a charged muscle” – so fingers crossed that it’s nothing worse. It’s not surprising that he might be experiencing some aches and pains as he ramps up to competitive form, so I remain hopeful that his great comeback will continue.
I’ve been a huge fan of the legendary RAFA . Based on his performance today, I’ve come to the conclusion that he will achieve extraordinary things this year. Believe me, I can see it in his eye: he will return stronger, and this time it will be sufficient to defeat the greatest player of the season.
Loosing like that is tough. So many chances missed in the second set. I really hope Rafa is Fine and not injured again.
Take rest and than keep going. Always with you. Vamos Rafa❤️
The brave will fall but never yield…..Vamos Rafa!!!!!
Strangely enough, I wasn’t too upset about Rafa’s loss. Yes, he squandered opportimunities to put the shutters down in the second set, but credit to Thompson, a formidable opponent, who just wouldn’t say die. Overall, Rafa played well and I’m encouraged moving forward. We must remember that he was match points away from winning and it was a good challenge for him, even though he lost.
Rest up champ and come back strong to fight in the AO.
I love Rafa but I wonder if losing today was not better for his comeback? Playing again tomorrow after today’s 3 hrs plus match might have been too much. Grigor is playing really well too. I don’t know why Rafa had a MTO but hopefully nothing serious.
Va4fsvre, on the positive side, it may be a blessing in disguise that he lost because at least he can rest up after that workout, even though he looked disappointed. I take a lot of positives from that match.
Sad about this loss but not totally surprising. Rafa gives it his all and the human body can only tolerate what it can.
Imagine how he feels mentally and physically. We will all stand behind him and send love and good wishes.
Rafa played well but some lapses in the second set tiebreak cost him the match. His physical endurance was also tested.
Keep improving champ!!
And well done to Thompson, he refused to go away.
Rafa no te preocupes de esta derrota, seguro que tú has sacado cosas positivas para tus próximos partidos, es algo muy normal, después de un año inactivo, animo a seguir luchando , te esperamos!!!
Dear Rafa.
I pray you are not injured. Your gave the game your all. So proud of you…God Bless you & keep you strong. My hero and fighter. Vamos 🇪🇦 🇪🇦
Let’s see what he says in the presser
What a match! With Rafa win or lose❤️ Vamos 💪
Hope Holger hammers Thompson…
He is to play Dimitov
Injured before AO.
Go away please. Thanks.
Concentrate on Djokovic who may have a much more serious problem.
