Rafael Nadal Is Going To Be A Dad

According to Spanish magazine Hola!, Rafael Nadal and Maria Francisca Perello are expecting their first child. The exclusive pictures leave no room for doubt. His wife Mery reveals her new maternity silhouette in a swimsuit.

The alarms went off at the Roland Garros tournament, where Rafa was able to win his 14th French Open title and 22nd Grand Slam. Even though Rafa made history, all eyes were on his wife, Mery, and her ‘suspicious’ change of style. She was wearing comfortable and loose looks, such as the wide lingerie cut dress that she wore in the stands during the final.

The tennis champion has previously opened up about his plans to start a family, revealing to Hola! in March 2018 that “obviously, I intend and want to form a family,” he said. “I love children and I would like them to do what they want in life.’”

The Spanish couple have yet to publicly confirm the pregnancy news.

  1. Congratulations to Rafa and Mery, I hope everything goes well. They will make wonderful parents.

The best way to give stop doing something you love, if you have to, is to find something else that you love as much, or maybe more. I’m sure that Rafa would love a child of his own even more than he loves tennis. It would be the happiest reason to call it a day, but I’m not at all sure he will.

  2. I am so happy for Rafa, Mery and the entire clan! It will be their first grandchild, and bet you they’re as excited as I have been!

Whatever Rafa chooses to do with the coming addition to his family, I am telling myself to respect this, difficult as it may be for most of us who treasure having Rafa in our lives, vicariously when watching his brilliance on a tennis court. I am simply grateful to have known him, be with him in spirit through all these years of triumphs and sprinkled with almost-triumphs here and there.

    I feel very blessed!

    • Tears of joy! We have come full circle with Rafa & soon we will be celebrating a new chapter in his life! Rafa has been a part of all of our lives for so long it’s like a family member
announcing the news…It’s emotional! Congratulations to Maria and Rafa they will certainly be wonderful parents! Boy or a girl that will be one beautiful baby! VAMOS Rafa on your latest achievement! ❤️❤️

May she have a good pregnancy and an easy delivery and a healthy baby.
The news for Rafa gets better and better and he well deserves it.

    • I am waiting to him in Spanish to say Felicidades 😀! hope all goes well until the time arrives. I thought it might be this year. It would be nice if it would be a Rafael Junior . He has said previously in interviews that he would .be pleased for his future child to excel in any sport 🎾⚽ not just tennis. Fiona in Paris

  4. Damn paparazzi are terrible privacy intruders … At Friday Rafa will talk about Wimbledon ❤

    • Rafa so happy to here the news you and Maria will make great parents . I hope the first one is a boy and the second a girl just healthy … God bless …

  5. Rafa & Mery, Congratulations on your wonderful news. Am sorry to say/think ye will not have a moments peace from hereon with the intrusive ignorant paparazzi.

  6. What wonderful news for a wonderful couple. Stay safe and well both of you. Many Congratulations. Dear God they won’t have a moments peace from the intrusive ignorant press core.

    • I agree with Christopher Clarey fro NY Times. No sponsors but giving an updated on the latest treatment for his foot.

“Nadal giving a press conference on Friday in Spain, I imagine to clarify his plans on #Wimbledon. Already practicing on grass and certainly looks promising that he will be there but let’s wait and hear what he has to say after his radio frequency ablation and training.”

  7. Wonderful news. They will be excellent parents. Life will be changing for him. Selfishly I will miss cheering for him but wish him the very best in his new role as a father.

  8. Congratulations to Rafa and Maria!

If there is a press conference for Friday, as reported at this site, my bet it that Rafa will say that he is not playing Wimbledon. For selfish reasons, my fingers are crossed that he is not announcing his retirement from the Tour. If he is retiring I hope for a date after the Laver Cup in September.

Rafa has always said that starting a family would come after his tennis career. He also doesn’t want to live with pain. Rafa wants a normal life. If this is it my congratulations to Rafa, Maria and his whole family.

    • I doubt he will announce retirerment on Friday since he is practice last three days for Wimbledon.

      • Yes, he’s been practising on grass. I don’t think he’s ready to make any announcements just yet. If he does decide to retire, it’ll probably be at the end of the season … that’ll be November, so, if Mery is about 4 months along, that will coincide with when the baby comes. But we don’t know anything for sure yet,

  9. No privacy in private moments. It’s so intrusive. Wonderful
News but I hope they will be allowed privacy. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

  10. I’m sure they will announce it when they are sure everything is ok with mother and baby. It may not even be true but I hope it is true!

  11. I’m sorry that the paparazzi took pictures of Mery in a private location, but I hope so much that it’s true – and, unless she’s been eating too many cakes, it seems pretty certain! What lovely news. This will be a much-loved and very lucky baby ❤️.
