21-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal is into the fourth round of the French Open after a 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 win over Botic van de Zandschulp on Court Suzanne Lenglen. He has reached the fourth round at the tournament for the 17th time in his career.
Rafa has dropped just 20 games in nine sets to reach the fourth round, keeping alive the possibility of a fifth Roland Garros title without the loss of a set (2008, 2010, 2017, 2020). He improved to 108-3 at the tournament, with 88 of those wins coming in straight sets.
After the match, Rafa said:
“It’s a pleasure to play on Suzanne-Lenglen … Botic played a good match, he’s a tough player. I let him back in to the third set, but I played my best match of the tournament so far until then.”
Rafa will play Canadian youngster Felix Auger-Aliassime, who added Toni Nadal to his coaching set-up in April last year, for a place in the last 8.
