  1. Although Rafa’s back problem is an ongoing issue, his love of tennis and competitive nature are exemplified by his willingness to change tactics. He will do everything he can to deny his back pain from interfering with his quest for a second AO title.

    GO RAFA

  2. As a long time Rafa fan, I would like to submit a recommendation for Rafa’s lower back stiffness. A former Canadian ballerina, Miranda Esmonde White, has developed the Classical Stretch by Essentrics workout routines. These routines focus on strengthening muscles, flexibility and mobility. Professional athletes and Olympians have experienced much success from Miranda’s routines. There’s an emphasis on circulation of blood which frees up muscles. The Posture Workout is great for lower back stiffness. I’m a huge fan of her workouts and best of all the body feels much better. She has DVD’s, books, youtube.I know rafa has an excellent medical and physical fitness team, but I believe Miranda’s method is worth a try. Always wishing you the best, Rafa!

  3. Rafa played well and I was pleased that he managed to win in straight sets . The serve was good and he kept Djere on the defensive for a good part of the match . I really like Rafa positioning himself closer to the baseline on service returns . I believe Rafa will improve in his next match and play more offensively which is what is required to advance in this AO . I personally don’t think the back stiffness is going to prevent him from playing his best tennis . Winning matches and getting more confidence will alleviate the stiffness . Vamos !

  4. I wonder how Rafa feels today? I thought that he played well, but was gingerly in his movements. You did not see his usual exuberance on court. I think he has a tough draw so I just want him to get better. It will be a long year and we want Rafa healthy. That is number one.

  5. Rafa good luck next much take care I’m ready to see you play next much all the best from your fans 🎾😘👍❤️🙏👍🙏

    • The Guardian newspaper has quotes from Rafa’s Spanish language interview. Rafa explained that he is altering his serve to avoid stressing his back. Thus he has to think about the serve rather than react naturally. His response to the first return is also affected. After that he his able to hit normally.

So not the best. Got to hope that back improves.

      • Thanks so much for this info from the Spanish language conference! Always so much more detailed. Hopefully Rafa will get more used to this altered serve and it will become automatic. Love him so much and wish him all the best, always!
