Rafael Nadal receives Madrid’s highest honour

Earlier on Thursday, Rafael Nadal had been awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of 12 May by president of the Community of Madrid Isabel Díaz Ayuso in Puerta de Sol.

“First of all, I would like to remember the victims of this terrible pandemic, which we are going through, and all their families. I think it affects us all in one way or another, but above all those that have lost loved ones,” Rafa highlighted in his speech.

“Thank you to all the health workers, particularly in Madrid, a community that was severely affected in the first wave. And also thank you to the forces and State security organisations. I’m convinced that Spain will do what it has always been able to do; to come through tough and difficult circumstances. This time will be no exception.”

“Thank you for this recognition, it is a true honour,” Rafa said. “I’d like to thank and share this distinction with the citizens of the Community of Madrid, a place that feels very close to my heart and where I always receive special affection. I’ve enjoyed unforgettable moments, both personal and professional. We all owe a lot to this community, because it has always been there for us.

“I hope that what we are going through now will soon be just a memory and we can go back to sharing and enjoying the things that make us happy soon. Hopefully this will be over as soon as possible. You’ve all made this an unforgettable day for me.”

  1. Congratulations. They know how to thank you for being a good person. I remember that I have been really well treated and welcomed when I went to Spain. So many treasures in there.

For my side, I can only say that my computer has been totally transformed by some people, not in order to help me and thank me for me helping people around. The cables of my computer, of the printer have been changed too.

and when I am outside waiting for the bus to come, I can see that information on bus stop are not accurate. You need to go to an application on your phone to get the right information. Those applications for everything. Nowadays, almost everyone has a phone with those applications. On my phone, I don’t know why I have a lot that I can’t get rid of. I paid my phone a huge price and can not decide what I want to have or not on it. That’s really strange. The same with the computer, the commercials. I mean what’s the point to send all those ads to people who can’t afford those products ?

What would you do if you rent a place in which the owners told you you have an internet access and then you realize there are none ? When you call the owners to tell that there are problems with their flat (I felt from the bed at night because the support under the bed was not large enough, electricity cuts just by plugging the iron and before going to a very important appointment, the owners answered that they are working ! even if they live close to the flat and don’t come to help you until the evening and you have all your food in the fridge) and then they decide to tell the renting site about you. That’s really strange. Food in fridge lost because of careless mistake apparently happened to one of my former colleague, whose friend wanted my job. She used to send me emails at every moment and no one to ask her to stop. People in the company dealing in chemical field which moved closer to the capital, had probably never heard of harrassments.

Anyway, it seems that owners can do whatever they want. The one who sold us the flat has done changes between the visit and the day we came in. I had never heard about this before. This would have prevented us about people living in there and their methods.

I have learnt a lot during all those years.

  2. Rafa was forced to deny that a person or a group was connected to him.

It appears money was being requested in order to share stories with Rafa, or interact with him on different social media platforms.

“IMPORTANT. This is not true and no one should pay to interact with me. Please pay attention to that.

Thanks and apologies if anyone is causing you trouble. Rafa”

I sure hope no one was scammed. Awful.

      • On a happy note, Rafa, Mery, and a group of their childhood friends went to the Bahamas, after Rafa’s London tourney, and did some fun tourism: shopping, swimming, dining, and fishing.

Doubly happy that they weren’t bothered by the paparazzi. One report I read was that Rafa rented a catamaran. I guess he outsmarted everyone by not taking his own catamaran to the Bahamas. 🤣😂
I do enjoy reading about Rafa when he is off court but not at the expense of his privacy.
