The pair will meet for the very first time on Wednesday. They came close to facing each other in the Wimbledon fourth round last month, but Evans lost a five-set thriller to Joao Sousa.

Dan Evans on playing Rafa:
It is going to be great. He is one of the best players to ever walk on the court and I’m going to enjoy every minute of it.
It is a shame it didn’t happen at Wimbledon but there’s no better place to do it than here.
Our champ has won the Canadian Masters on four occasions—a record for him at Masters 1000 hard-court events—twice in Toronto and twice in Montreal.
Rafa is the No. 1 seed for the third consecutive year and fifth time overall at the Rogers Cup.
He arrives with a 34-8 record in Canada and has reached at least the quarter-finals in seven of his past nine appearances at this event.
As the top seed in the draw, Rafa has a 15-2 record (2005 – Won, 2010 – SF, 2017 – 3R, 2018 – Won).
GOOD LUCK & VAMOS RAFA!
