Top seed and defending champion Rafael Nadal returns to action for the first time since Wimbledon as he takes on British qualifier Daniel Evans in the second round of the Coupe Rogers in Montreal.
The pair will meet for the very first time on Wednesday. They came close to facing each other in the Wimbledon fourth round last month, but Evans lost a five-set thriller to Joao Sousa.

I wanted a nice peaceful early round match and what do I get? Thunderstorms coming in waves? A close TB in the first set? Thankfully Rafa won the set and is up a break at 2-0 in the 2nd, but match suspended AGAIN!?!? I’m an old woman, my heart can’t take this stuff any more.

Evans can be a very tough pesty opponent so its important to get on top early in the match . I hope Rafa is ready to get a high percentage of first serves in and attacks from the baseline and varies his return position to confuse Evans . Nadal in straight sets is my prediction . Good competitive match is likely .
