Rafael Nadal gets potentially tough draw in Acapulco

The draw for the Mexican Open has been released and Rafael Nadal has to be at his very best if he wants to make a winning return to the ATP circuit after a one-month hiatus.

Our champ begins his campaign against 31-year-old German Mischa Zverev. The top seed has beaten his fellow left-hander in straight sets in two previous FedEx ATP Head2Head meetings, including the first round in Acapulco two years ago.

Rafa will face either Nick Kyrgios or Andreas Seppi in the second round, with former World No. 3 Stan Wawrinka and seventh seed Steve Johnson also in his quarter.

The 500-level tournament is played on outdoor hard courts.

  1. Is it showing this year on any of the UK sports channels or is it Amazon Prime for all the ATP tournament?😢😢

    • I’m afraid if you don’t have amazon prime and a fire stick for your tv you won’t get to see any tennis except the French and Wimbledon and the amazon coverage is rubbish so are the commentators it’s all rubbish

  2. Rafa will prevail in this tournament .We need him to get battlevtested for his revenge against Dvokovitch in the next 3 majors . That would be the pinnacle of a great career .

  4. Welcome back-we look forward to seeing you on court. Have a great tournament-all the best💪👊👍👏🏆❣️

  5. ATP 500 – you will get the best players vying for the title. After a month’s rest Rafa must be raring to go.

Am sure Rafa will be practising big time to win it – beating the best of best !!
    Vamos Rafa

    • Gee, never seen this before, Rafa has a tough draw?? Back to the nail biting, been enjoying the calm since Australia! But of course worth it to have Rafa back!!

  6. Draws seldom play out as drawn.

I can’t say I see this draw as “potentially difficult.” My only concern is if Rafa feels comfortable enough with the small changes he has made in his game to carry him through to the finish line. If he is, he should be fine.

Stan, of course, could prove problematic. I’m hoping he won’t. He has the potential to tire Rafa out leaving him with depleted energy to take on Isner.

Win or lose Rafa has his eyes on the big picture. I hope he is well rested, that his mind is clear, and he is ready to take on all who want to dislodge him from his perch.

GOOD LUCK CHAMP BECAUSE YOU ROCK.
