The BNP Paribas Masters Paris draw is out, and Rafael Nadal has a bye in the first round. The World No. 1 is seeded first at the tournament. He will play the winner of the match between Mischa Zverev and Hyeon Chung in the second round.
Our champ is joined by fourth seed Alexander Zverev in the top half of the draw, with second seed Roger Federer projected to face off against third seed Marin Cilic in the other semifinal.

As always Rafa seems to get a tough draw. Indoor hard court is his least favoured surface as well. Rafa has never won Paris Bercy or the WTF but here’s hoping this is his year.!!
He won’t have to meet Fed until the final and he may be tired by then, coming straight from Basel.
Rafa made a wise decision skipping Basel. Paris and the WTF are worth more points. Having Moya there may just make that little bit of difference between a win and a loss.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed for an aggressive, confident and healthy Rafa.!!
Hope Rafa will try to finish the point more quickly and find his Beiing level again. Toni is not accompanying him but Moya is this time (nothing against Roig), so I guess his tactics will be better. If reaches the SF, his opponent could be Del Potro/Zverev/Dimitrov or even Isner – all of them could trouble him big time on this court if he can’t find his rhythm or too nervy.
That said, the fact that his knee seems okay is and will remain the best news for me, not his winning this tournament or not.

I am so happy that Rafa is playing Paris Bercy because it means his knee is all right. Of course I would love Rafa to do well in Paris and London, but we Rafans must be realistic. While we all want Rafa to be the year end Number one, just remember where we were last year. I want Rafa to stay healthy and be happy. Those are the most important things!
