In the latest ATP Ranking List as of Monday, October 9, Rafael Nadal has increased his lead over his rivals. He is at no.1 with 9,875 points, 410 more than last week as a result of claiming the China Open title for the second time in his career on Sunday.
Roger Federer came in second, ahead of Andy Murray and Alexander Zverev, respectively. Stan Wawrinka jumped to the eighth spot, while Grigor Dimitrov dropped to the ninth. David Goffin went up one position to complete the Top 10 list after he claimed the Japan Open title, while Pablo Carreño Busta left the list.
The current ATP rankings and point scores are as follows:

With Beijing title, Rafa tightened his grip on the top spot in the ATP Race To London. Now up to 2,360 points over Roger Federer, he has put himself in prime position to cap his 2017 campaign in No. 1 fashion.

Why 410 points instead of 500 for China Open?
This year Rafa gained 410 and defended last years 90 points.

Rafa beating Krygios so convincingly was the icing on the cake . Before the match, Iwas not sure that Rafa was going to prevail based on his recent loss in Cincinnat and Krygios’s easy win against Alexander Zverev. Not only did Rafa prevail but he won the deserved and welcoming praise of Krygios . Rafa is playing so confidently that I think his superlative performances should continue for the foreseeable future .Vamos Rafa forever!
Hi Jefferey. Rafa’s form in the NA HC swing was not good and his confidence wasn’t too high after losing that Muller match and to Shapovalov playing badly (by his own admission).
Much has changed since then. He found his best form again, won the USO, and found his best form at Bejing again after a low start in the 1st round, which only woke him up and turned him into a scary Clutchdal.
Meanwhile Zverev wasn’t in his best form at the tournament. He played subpar in the semifinal, giving in easily by doublefaulting on both BPs in both sets. Kyrgios was winning too easily before the final, including one retirement. He wasn’t tested.
Even against a subpar Zverev he was behind in most rallies. As talented as he is, he still can be neutralised by players with great, aggressive defence and the right tactics, as shown in the Cincy final.
He’s not unbeatable. Dimitrov beat him convincingly in Cincy. He was clearly trying. Then Rafa raised it to another level. Nick imploding or not would still have lost to a confident, healthy, and highly motivated Rafa like this. 🙂

Hopefully it will be a very short and straightforward match so Rafa can save his tank for Pouille or Fognini. I want him to rest as much as possible but at the same time I can’t wait for his next match. 🙂
