Rafa run at the australian open is the same run that federer had at the french open 2009. Similarities are that federer had a tough opponent in haas in the fourth round then he beat monfils in quarterfinal and del potro in the semi final and soderling in the final. Playing two times a five set match.

Nadals run were a tough opponent in the third round named zverev then beating monfils now he has to play raonic and if he wins that propably dimitrov in the semifinal. But one match at a time

Vamos Rafa, great win against Monfils. First major QF coming up in nearly 2 years! Is he back? If he reaches the final and beats Fed, yes, then he is back for sure! In fact the score line of today, 4 tough sets, vs 3 easy sets 3 years ago against La Monf, tell us a bit where Rafa is at the moment (to me, La Monf level is always La Monf, same risky instable player as always, so you can compare that quite well, the guy is never excellent during an entire match, it’s about how much you use his weak spells).

Congratulations rafa three more to go but after you lost the third set and were 4-2 behind in the fourth set. my mind went back to the fognini match at the us open 2015 fourth round and said to myself: oh no if he loses the fourth set he is going to lose the match because we can not expect you to win 2 five set matches in a row. Especially since you have not been playing that much. Thank god you fought back and won the set and the match. Now you have to play against raonic. I think what the most important thing is that you should do is serving well and listen to carlos moya on how to play raonic. If I were you I would use a lot the dropshot since raonic is not a great mover on the court. But you know very well how his serve is that is why it is so important to serve well. and mostly convert the chances that you will get from him because raonic will not give you a lot of chances. The key will be the first set. And the advantage that you have is that it is best of five instead of best of three

Absolutely agree Fan Love , I don’t think I have ever seen Rafa get so vocal . But our hero won through in the end. The Australian crowd are brilliant getting behind Rafa the way they do . Great news Rafa , can’t wait for your next match.I just love John McEnroe’s commentary , I think he has a soft spot for our little Spaniard and why wouldn’t he .

  9. Somebody has got to do something about umpires miscalls against Rafa….Gael asked to challenge way too late and yet he was allowed to. As it so happen Gael challenge was wrong but it caused a stop at Rafa’s flow. These umpires miscalls are unbelievable …..we talking major tour here…… it really is shame as it takes away from the enjoyment of the match flow.
    VAMOS SWEETHEART and sorry this is happening …..keep going !!!!!!!!!!!! : ) VAMOS !!!!!!!!!! : )

For all those dreaming of a Federer – Nadal final: did you know it’s been 10 (TEN) years since Roger last beat Rafa in a major? – Wimbledon 07 folks, 2nd and last time the Weak Era King beat his nemesis at the highest stage.

Terrible driver,he was looking at Rafa rather than the road some of the time, the situation can change in a split second….. a very careless and dangerous way of driving.
Also he was driving with one arm on the window ledge some of the time,we were taught to drive at hands at “10 to 2 o’clock” at all times apart from changing gear. with this position you can take evasive action quickly as I have had to do in my 55 years of driving thereby saving myself and others from harm on several occasions..playing around with bats whilst driving is distracting the drivers overall concentration even if he wasn’t driving at the time..driving needs a 100% concentration on the whole journey.
That said it was great to see Rafa,if I was him I would avoid driving with this fella.I was glad when it was over.
Good luck today Rafa, you have a good chance of winning this year.

He’s never less than absolutely charming!! I saw Rafa’s first match at the Australian Open on an outside court, & there was a real buzz around him even then! It’s so exciting to see him back here every year, & there is definitely a buzz around him this year! I saw him play against Baghdatis on Thursday night & he played brilliantly, in spite of the best efforts of the Hellenic Fan Club! A good sign for the rest of the year. Vamos, Rafa, we love you!!
