2009 Australian Open champion Rafael Nadal has made it through to the third round of the Grand Slam following a straight-sets win over Marcos Baghdatis.
Rafa saw off the Cypriot’s challenge in impressive fashion on Thursday, dispatching of his opponent 6-3, 6-1, 6-3.
Since I wasn’t able to watch Rafa’s match I’m really happy to read that our champ showed enough of the old passion and firepower in the two hour 13-minute clinic at Rod Laver Arena.
After the match, Rafa said:
It was a good match. I didn’t play during the night yet so the conditions were different and it was tough to adjust at the beginning. Marcos is a great player, especially in this court, he has a special feeling. It was a great victory. I feel great in my body with no injuries now, I can’t ask for anything more. (via Australian Open)
Rafa will play German Alexander Zverev in the next round.
2nd set and nadal consolidates his receding hairline to a 4-1 lead. not too sure if nadal will throw this one as he has in the past. only 1 grand slam to his name so I doubt he will put the effort in. unless of course, he’s poor
If you missed this match you missed a great game! Marcos is a fine and experienced player but couldn’t find a way through ‘The Wall’. My feelings go to the man who tried so hard, but of course congrats to our champ!
Rock on, Rafa!! We are so proud of you on and off the court.Happy about the addition of brilliant Carlos Moya to your coaching staff.
Congratulation Rafa, good luck and all the best for the next round.
Rafa will win this one!!!! GO, RAFA!!! VAMOS!!!!!

Rafa has never called Maria “Xisca” why does media keep insisting that name?
L❤️vely photos and smilies 😃

The best of luck at your next game 🎾💪🏼🍀
VAMOS Champ❣️
I was interested in Rafa’s comments about the ball bouncing different at night. It took him some games to get used to it. I suspect that he will be playing Sascha at night so this was good practice. Rafa is going to have to play at his best level if Sascha serves well. I so hope Rafa will win.
Looking confident in this win-good luck against Zev. 👊💪👊💪👊💪❣️❣️❣️
VAMOS RAFA , VERY IMPRESSIVE. LOVED THE WAY YOU PLAYED. THE NEXT MATCH IS GOING TO BE SOMETHING LIKE YOU IN YOUR TEENS PLAYING THE LEGEND ROGER FEDERER.
I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING YOU PLAY AT YOUR BEST LEVEL. IT’S GOING TO BE A INTERESTING GAME.
ALL THE BEST RAFA. RELAX , FOR NOW N ENJOY YOUR WIN THIS EVENING.
LOVE YOU ALWAYS. 💗💟💔💝💘💖💓💙💛
If Rafa could beat this youngster then i believe he will get his second AO. Zverev’s groundstroke is too powerful, his serve is a pain to his opponent. The only thing he is lacking of is experience.
