2009 Australian Open champion Rafael Nadal has made it through to the third round of the Grand Slam following a straight-sets win over Marcos Baghdatis.
Rafa saw off the Cypriot’s challenge in impressive fashion on Thursday, dispatching of his opponent 6-3, 6-1, 6-3.
Since I wasn’t able to watch Rafa’s match I’m really happy to read that our champ showed enough of the old passion and firepower in the two hour 13-minute clinic at Rod Laver Arena.
After the match, Rafa said:
It was a good match. I didn’t play during the night yet so the conditions were different and it was tough to adjust at the beginning. Marcos is a great player, especially in this court, he has a special feeling. It was a great victory. I feel great in my body with no injuries now, I can’t ask for anything more. Rafa will play German Alexander Zverev in the next round.
