Spain may be overwhelming favorites in their upcoming Davis Cup World Group Play-off against India, but Rafael Nadal is in no mood to take the hosts lightly.

We have good team. We have a team that really wants to be here and give their best. I think that a team like Spain should be in the World Group and that is why we are here.

Excited to be back in India. I know these players have been practicing here but we will be ready for the confrontation.

I am happy to be back. I had a tough two months and I am happy to be back where I want to be — on the tennis court.

I have been playing in the Davis Cup since I was 17. It is a special feeling to represent your country and there have been some great moments. We had some great success in this competition.

It is always a special feeling to play for your country.

  4. Very happy to watch Rafa playing doubles with Marc after I was so messed up yesterday with all the confusing news.
My deepest respect goes to Leander Paes who is playing soooo well… He is 43 years old! Nice to see such a fair indian public, happy with their team playing so well and so many lucky Rafa fans. Its quite a battle…

  5. Sounds Ike Rafa and Mark seem to be having a bit of trouble, likewise with Andy and Jamie in their match , they are playing del potro who seems to be great at singles and doubles. I think Roger,Rafa , Novak and Andy must be thanking their lucky stars that Del Potro had been out of the game for all those years as looking at how he’s paying I think the results may have been very different

  6. Reading Fan Loves comments it seems all is well with Rafa now, as he must be out on the court playing in the doubles match. I’m guessing it must have been a 24 hr bug . Anyway good luck to Rafa and Mark and team Spain ,it sounds as if you are playing well ,wish I could say the same for GB

  7. and it is 3:1 for Rafa & Mark 1st set !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! : ) ; ) : ) : ) : ) ci……ci…..ci…..God bless you dear Rafa it is such a treat to see you play!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! : ) : ) : ) : )

    • Yes..very suspicious…you’re not alone.

This brings back to mind how his team was delayed waiting for him on their scheduled first day of practice. They had to leave for the courts without him. I think that was Monday

Official report? Has anyone else contracted gastroenteritis? Fishy to me. What water or food did he consume KNOWING the possible consequences of doing so.

We all know of the secretive nature of the Nadal team. I was not surprised about the comment of his wrist issues. That statement has more credence because it comes from a team member.

I will have to wait, like others, to find out the facts of his problem. There is also the possibility we will never know…

  8. I wonder what really is going on with Rafa , it seems strange that two people in the team come up with with completely different answers , and Surely they would know . Very Strange 👐

  9. GOOD MORNING DEAR RAFA. I WAS VERY HAPPY TO SEE YOU SITTING WITH THE SPANISH TEAM. BUT ALSO SAD TO HEAR THAT YOU HAD A STOMACH INFECTION. HOPE YOU ARE FEELING BETTER TODAY.

MY ONE N ONLY REASON TO WATCH TENNIS IS YOU. WHEN YOU RETIRE IT WILL BE A BIG BLOW TO THE TENNIS WORLD N ME . LOVED THE INTERVIEW YOU GAVE. NEVER MISS AN OPPORTUNITY TO SEE YOU ON TV. WAS HOPING TO SEE YOU IN PERSON, IN INDIA BUT IT DOESN’T SEEM SO.

BUT I WILL DEFINITELY TRY TO MAKE IT TO SEE YOU IN REAL AT LEAST ONCE IN MY LIFE.

ALL THE BEST FOR THE DOUBLES MATCH TODAY.

WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU TILL THE END OF TIME.

  10. Edit once again and last time: It finally was the stomach. Nothing else. Conchita confirmed it on twitter. Thanks god.

    • Hiya @Fedallica, I don’t understand what you are going on about injury, stomach, etc. I didn’t see any comment of yours re injury. In any event, I am sure no one would think you made up a story about Rafa being injured. I did not use the link in your comment so I may not even know what you are talking about.
Regarding anything on the internet I rarely, if ever rely on only one report. I will look for at least two other articles to confirm the first. Even then, articles can be quite wrong. To cover yourself, you can just say, “Bla Bla Bla,” as reported by “whomever/publication” wrote it. The Internet is full of poorly written and inaccurate articles. You are such a worrier….😟

      • Hi Margo, I know that I am a worrier. I am sorry about that, but I could not help myself…after I was reading about the stomach issues, there were rumors in the indian press (the link I posted here) about Feliciano telling that Rafa pulled out because of wrist issues which sounded very, very reliable. It was a seesaw the whole day long. I’ll try to hold myself back in future.
