Rafael Nadal laid the first brick of his tennis school in Manacor, his hometown on the island of Majorca, which is expected to open in the summer of 2016 and house 140 boys and girls each year.

The aim of the tennis school, where Rafa plans to work when he retires, is to “bring the best” out of young players, but above all to “prepare them for the future” on a human and academic level because becoming a professional is an objective very few achieve.
“The main thing is to educate them as persons”, said Rafa after planting the first stone of the “Rafa Nadal Academy”, which will have a floor area of 258,000 Sq ft and 18 tennis courts, a school and a residence for young players from around the World.

After laying the first brick for the construction of his Mallorca School for tennis, he emphasized the first order of business for his students: the proper development of their characters as people! It’s no wonder Rafa is so loved all over the world. He exudes respect, sportsmanship and loyalty to family and friends–the quintessential model of a worthwhile human being. Congratulations, Rafa, for doing all you do for the average developing child and the children with disabilities! We all know how competitive you are, but if you were never ever to win another grand slam, your life would still be honored as the No. 1 champion for having positively touched so many other human beings. Good for Rafa…and lots of future tennis players. His ethical outlook on life alone is of value…….He will ,I think, always show that huge respect for others and loyalty to the tenets of good sportsmanship. I do hope he will continue playing.
