World No. 1 Rafael Nadal will face No. 52 Lukas Rosol in the second round of The Championships on Thursday. As you know, Rosol beat injured Rafa in five sets two years ago at Wimbledon. They have only met twice in their career’s and the only other meeting was on a hard court this year in Doha – our champion won in straight sets.

Rafa talks about his opponent: “He’s a good player.  He’s a player that can play very well on this surface. He’s aggressive player.  Will be a tough match again.  I know if I want to have chances to win, I need to play very well.  That’s what I going to try.  If not, I don’t have chances to be in the third round.  But I going to fight for it.”

Rosol on Rafa: “It’s Nadal who has to win, I have nothing to lose. I can create another surprise. I want to impose my style on him. The shorter the rallies, the better for me. Nadal is the king of clay. But he is more vulnerable on other surfaces, especially grass. If you want to beat one of the big stars at a Grand Slam, the early rounds are the best… The match in 2012 was a bad-tempered affair with Rosol and Nadal involved in an ugly shoulder charge at the net. “When we see each other, we say hello. That’s all but I don’t have any problems with him.”

  1. Please, where do I vote for the ESPY awards? I cant find anything! Rafa will be playing in a few hrs : VAAAMOOOSSS …VAAAMOOOSSS …VAAAMOOOSSS …!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can someone please tell me WHY people keep bringing up the rosol ACCIDENTAL victory?! Rafa was injured, thats why he lost! I dont hear anybody talking about federer’s second round loss at last year Wimbledon tornament …!!! VAAAMOOOSSS RAAAFAAA, you are THE BEST & we love you more than anything else in the world !!!!!!!!!

  2. Best of luck with your match tomorrow. I agree with all the comments here. Just stay
as mentally tough, resilient, engaged and motivated as you always are. Hopefully Rosol won’t resort to his silly antics and distractions like he did two years ago. Earlier match so
no 45 minute delay to close the roof and upset rhythm of the match. Only positive thoughts
and bring that intensity as always!!!

    Vamos, Rafa!!!!

  3. I don’t agree with this bigheaded Rosol.Rafa doesn’t have to win this, either. As a matter of fact he doesn’t have to anything anymore.First of all he has won this particular GS twice, so far. Secondly he is already a living legend in this sport. His results (9 in one GS, 10 years GS win in a row – WOW and 5 others more )are already insane! Of course I do believe in Rafa and he can count on my vamosing always .:) As Andre Agassi said’ people can say what they want to Nadal is the best!’ so Vamos Rafa!:)
