PHOTOS: Rafael Nadal Scores 700th Career Win To Reach Wimbledon Second Round

World No. 1 Rafael Nadal became the 11th man in the Open Era to record at least 700 career match wins. Our champion came from a set down to beat Martin Klizan, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, 6-3 in the first round of the Wimbledon. In the second round he will now face Lukas Rosol – the man who knocked him out in 2012.

Rafael Nadal on BBC One after recording his 700th career victory: “It means I have had a very long and successful career and I am so happy for that. These matches are always so dangerous. I really know it is impossible to play my best in the first round. For sure the next round will be tough. The last three years I did not play much on grass and that affects your rhythm and confidence. My Lukas Rosol (his next opponent and the man who defeated him at SW19 two years ago) is a very dangerous player. Very strong and powerful. I will have to play very well if I am to win.”

“The most important thing was not the 700 wins but victory in the first round of Wimbledon – it’s always so dangerous. Emotions are always so high when I am able to play in this Centre Court – it’s a magic place, I have unbelievable memories from this court.”

VAMOS RAFA!
