New ATP Rankings: Crucial clay season about to begin for Rafael Nadal and an uncertain top 10

As Rafans, April is one of our favorite months, because clay season finally starts, and with it comes the return of the King of Clay. Rafa has started practicing in Mallorca (see the video here) on his beloved red clay. He has 600 points to defend in Monte Carlo, and should he win back the title from Novak Djokovic, he can add an additional 400 points.

The week was reserved for Davis Cup players such as Roger Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka, who spearheaded a shaky win for their country to reach the semifinals, and Andy Murray, who gave his very best but will once again enter the World Group playoffs along with Spain in September. Other changes in the top 10 this week include Richard Gasquet re-entering the top 10, and Milos Raonic exiting it. In the Race to London Rafa is still behind Novak Djokovic like he was last week. Vamos Rafa!

  1. I’d love to see Rafa beat Novak on all the clay court tournaments beginning from MC next week. However, the battle for the FO crown will really be a titanic one especially between Novak & Rafa. But I ‘d not be surprised if Novak wins it;he has been preparing for it since last year after losing to Nadal in the USO. And let’s not forget that that’s the main reason he employed BB. Other competitors like Marin Cilic and Fabio Fognini has also vastly improved that it will not also be surprising if anyone of these guys claim it!

However, of all the rivals of Rafa, Novak appears to the hungriest and the best of the whole lot. It will be a miracle for Rafa to win the 9th FO title!! Rafa need s to practise and practise more and more; instead he spends more time on poker!

    Well, we’ll see.
