The new rankings are out, and World No.1 Rafael Nadal widens the gap in points between himself and Novak Djokovic by winning the Rio Open title. Rafa currently has 14,580 points, exactly 4000 points more than Novak Djokovic’s 10,580 points. He also holds a 9,020 lead over Stanislas Wawrinka, who currently stands at no.3.

It is important to note, however, that Rafa’s 500 points from his 2013 Acapulco title will drop off on March 3rd, putting him back at 14080 points before he goes to Indian Wells. Since Rafa is defending his points at the California tournament, his next opportunity to add points will come shortly after, at the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami where he has 0 points because  he pulled out last year. Therefore, going into Indian Wells, Rafa will be back to 14080.

  1. Mis respetos a un gran campeón, y mejor ser humano. Felicidades por ese predicar con el ejemplo para esta generación que en términos generales marcha sin rumbo y sin respeto a sus mayores. El tío Tony gran consejero.

  2. Hope you can get good rest on one hand and practise well on the other. You will need to be very focused, perfect your timing and very aggressive. Wish you all the best and really hope you can win this and many other tournaments this year. Vamos
