The Australian Open Draw is out.

Rafael Nadal will start his bid at the Open with a first round match against Aussie Bernard Tomic. Drawn in his quarter is Gael Monfils. He could possibly face a fourth round against Lleyton Hewitt and a quarter final against Juan Martin Del Potro. Rafa could possibly play a semifinal against Andy Murray or Roger Federer.

A Rafa-Novak Djokovic final is a strong possibility, but he could also play Stanislas Wawrinka or David Ferrer.

A win at AO 2014 will make Rafa the only man in the Open Era to have two career slams, i.e., a minimum of two wins at each of the four Grand Slams. He will also tie with Pete Sampras in winning 14 slam trophies.

Our champion has no points to defend, so he can only add to his lead over Djokovic. If anything, this tournament promises to be thrilling, and going by Rafa’s general pattern of improvement as a tournament progresses, and his drive and grit, it will be a treat to watch our champion on court in the next coming weeks.

Vamos Rafa!

  3. The worst draw imaginable. Couldn’t they put Ferrer over there too to make it even easier for the Djoker? I have faith in Rafa of course but this draw makes it hard for Rafa and so easy for the Serb. Come on Rafa, Vamos all your way to biting the trophy! xxx

  4. IMPOSSIBLE is not a word in Rafa’s dictionary! Difficult yes but with the support of all us Rafans he will make it! Yes?!? All together now: VAAAMOOOSSS RAAAFAAA !!!!!!!!!

  5. The only cakewalk in his draw is Sijsling. Really a terrible player. I am Dutch, so I know what I am talking about 🙂

  6. And if Rafa’s half doesn’t play first, he is in more problems then. One day less to rest for finals.

  7. The hardest possible draw for Rafa. Tomic/Sijsling/Monfils/Hewit/Del Portroe/Federer(Murray)/Djokovic. Mission impossible, but we will trust you Rafa. Vamossss!
