Rafael Nadal one match away from Year End No.1 after defeating David Ferrer

The incredible pressure that had built up since David Ferrer defeated Rafael Nadal last week in the Paris Masters semifinal is finally off! Rafa won his first Round Robin match at the World Tour Finals in London against Ferrer 6-3, 6-2. With this victory, he is only one match win away from securing the year end No. 1 ranking.

Rafa broke in the first game of the first set, but Ferrer broke back, hinting at a replay of the semifinal match they played in Paris. However, this match was largely one-sided, with Rafa breaking Ferrer once more in the first set to take a lead and the set at 6-3. Rafa seemed to be nearly back to his unbeatable form in the second set, serving well and hitting winners, in a vast improvement over the last match he played against Ferrer. He broke early again in the second set, taking an early lead over Ferrer, and won it at 6-2. Well done and congrats Rafa!
