ATP Finals Draw: Is this Rafael Nadal’s dream draw?

The Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, which will commence at the O2 Arena in London on Monday, November 4, held its draw ceremony earlier, and the results can be found at their website.

World number one Rafael Nadal was drawn in Group A along with David Ferrer, Tomas Berdych and Stanislas Wawrinka.

Novak Djokovic’s Group B has Juan Martin Del Potro, Roger Federer and Richard Gasquet.

The format of the WTF is different in that it is not a knock-out tournament. Players within the two groups play each other in Round Robin fashion, and the two players with the highest results progress to the semifinals. Winners of the semifinals then go on to play in the final. The points breakup is as follows: Each RR match is worth 200 points. The semifinal is worth 400 points. An undefeated player that wins the entire tournament gets 1500 points.

Rafa has never won this tournament, so a win would be a great addition to his long list of achievements. However, this season has already cemented what we already knew: Rafa’s talent is legendary, and there is no one as unique as him. Vamos, Rafa!

So we ask you, readers, what is your opinion? Did Rafa get it easy, or did Djokovic get the tougher draw? Any early predictions on how the season will end? Can Rafa take his very first World Tour Final title? Leave us your comments below!

  1. Novak with the tougher draw, but them the breaks in Tennis. That said, this is Rafa’s worst time of year and Djoker is on fire. So I am not going to breathe easy till Rafa wins his 2 matches and secures that year end #1!!!

  2. I prefer that you win, Rafa, but has nothing to do with my enjoying the way you play tennis and conduct your self. I like a gentleman and that you are my hero! A great grandmother!

  3. Easy draw, only Wawrinka and Gasquet to switch places and it’d be perfect. But it’d be tricky semi for Rafa then. Easy group but difficult semi.
It doesn’t matter at all if he wins trophy in London (this year or ever) or not, just to secure No 1 spot and that’s all. Rafa himself said he is happy with all he’s achieved this year and even if he doesn’t win any title till the end of the year he will be happy. An I agree with him.
