Three weeks ago Rafael Nadal officially announced his retirement from professional tennis during Spain’s Davis Cup match against the Netherlands. Since then, we have seen him playing golf, spotted at Alfonso X University engaging in an interesting conversation with students and posing for selfies with fans at his Academy in Mallorca.
Earlier today, Rafa published a video showcasing his acting skills. This isn’t the first time he has appeared in a commercial, so it’s a familiar environment for him. Being in front of cameras has been a significant part of his career.
The commercial, created for Playtomic – the largest racket sports community in the world—features our champ joking about using the app to book a court or find someone to play with.
How have you been coping these past three weeks? What are your feelings about watching Rafa and knowing that his tennis career has come to an end?

Thanks for the laugh Rafa!❤️
Life is not the same without you, Rafa. Nothing to look forward to. This commercial helped. 😂♥️🎾😘
I am so proud of Rafa for everything he has accomplished, but more than that I am proud of the man that he is. I have the utmost respect and admiration for him. Tennis for me will never be the same without him. He was the reason that I watched tennis for all these years. I feel a sense of loss. It was actually painful to watch him retire. I wish him every happiness in his next chapter.
Missing Rafa so much. 💔
Djokovic wanted so badly to destroy Rafa’s moment that week. Roddick said loudly that there was no need for Djoker to announce at that time that he was starting to work with Murray. The Serb was and forever will be a seeker of attention. Pathetic.
Watching tennis is different. I miss him. I wish his retirement ceremony was grander in a way. I love this because he looks like he’s having fun, and I want that for Rafa. I do hope that he engages in the tennis world. Possibly he and Roger coaching Laver Cup, or him coaching Spain for Davis Cup. Or maybe eventually (not quite ready) for him to coach an amazing player. Just not yet. I love Rafa forever.
It was awful yet it’s done. I watched a few tennis matches. I never missed a Rafa match. So it’s tennis that I have to get back to now. Who do I want to watch?
It’s Sinner for now.. And tennis is quiet for now so we can grieve.
