In Brisbane for his season opener, Rafael Nadal shares a post-Christmas treat with fans worldwide through these practice photos. Beyond his smile lies the evident joy of being Down Under and back on the court.

Our champ practiced on Show Court Two on Thursday afternoon and is scheduled to hit with World No. 8 Holger Rune on Pat Rafter Arena later in the evening.

Here’s to hoping jet lag won’t linger for too long. Vamos Rafa!

  1. OK. Mr logistic time.

If you look at the ATP website or the Brisbane tournament website, there’s no draw available yet, not that strange. Still 3 days away. It’s 32 players in the singles.

Biggest risk would be Holger Rune, I think.

I want to see Rafa play Murray, let’s party like it’s 2016.

    • Let him win a few matches first. No need to put extra pressure on him. Everyone will be keenly watching.
