Rafael Nadal reacts to Pele’s death

Brazilian football legend Pele died on Thursday after undergoing colon cancer treatment since 2021, his agent and daughter confirmed. He was 82.

Rafael Nadal left an emotional message on his Twitter account.

“Today a great of world sport is gone again. A sad day for the world of football, for the world of sport. His legacy will always remain. I didn’t see him play, I wasn’t that lucky, but I was always taught and told that he was the king of football.”

Pele arrived on the world soccer stage at 17, playing in the 1958 World Cup. He is the only men’s football player to win three World Cups, doing so in 1958, 1962 and 1970. He scored 77 goals in official international competition with the national team.

Rest in peace, Pele!
