During his press conference, Rafael Nadal gave an update on his nose injury after battling past Fabio Fognini in the second round at the US Open:
“It was just a strong hit. At the beginning I thought I broke the nose because it was a shock at the beginning, it was very painful.
“I lost little bit the – I don’t know how to say in English – but a little bit of the feeling of my head. It’s about being a little bit out of the world. I don’t know, seems like it is not broken. I am not sure yet. I don’t know. I think it’s getting bigger and bigger.”
“That’s just a shock, in some way I deserved it [for] playing that bad for a while (laughter). No, I’m joking.”

With all injuries and problems Rafa still never gives up and continues to inspire me more and more.
Ouch!!!
A shock indeed!!! I am so thankful you are okay, Rafa.🙏🙏🙏
Take care❤️🩹 Looking forward to seeing you on Saturday.😊 Vamos🍀💪
Vamos Rafa! ✌
You deserve one more US Open trophy! 🏆
Battle scarred, but victorious. Is there any part of Rafa’s body which hasn’t hasn’t been injured? Yet he’s still standing!
Congrats on the win, Rafa, bloodied nose and all!🫣that was too dramatic when I re-entered
the room to see you on the ground😧we do not mean it when we say, “knock yourself out”! We can joke now-trust there are no after effects. Rest up, and recover. Stay healthy-RG awaits🍀❤️
I was dead tired and wanted to go to bed. It was the fourth set and I thought to myself that the only bad thing that could happen now would be a Rafa injury. Like Isabel Lee I had left the room. Not five seconds after thinking about the only bad thing that could happen I looked at the TV and saw Rafa lying flat on the court.
That woke me up. Rafa looked dazed and dizzy. But what a champ to close it out!
And again… The Humble (and sincerely meaning it) Award goes to…. Rafael Nadal. G.O.A.T. of all sport.
😂😂😂
I know that feeling when you hit your nose
