  1. I dipped into the Azarenka v Kasatkina match – very close. Kasatkina sustained an ankle injury during the first set tie break. What i admire is that Vika came to the rescue immediately with ice for Daria’s ankle and brushed the clay off her. Sad to see what unfolded, but upon Daria’s retirement from the match, i just love how Vika gave her words of comfort and encouragement. Real camaraderie! Vika is a class act and I just love her.
Not long to go before Rafa Time. Counting down the minutes.

  2. According to the Italy’s minister of sports Vincenzo Spadafora, “up to 1,000 spectators will be able to attend open-air sports events, starting with the semifinals of the Italian Open tennis tournament. Rules for physical distancing and wearing masks will be scrupulously respected.”

  3. I’ve just read that 1000 spectators will be allowed in to the stadium for the semi-finals and finals of the Rome Masters. Fingers crossed that Rafa is in those matches!

  4. The following is from L’Equipe.fr

Players will be allowed to practice at the Jean-Bouin stadium.

Players who share a hotel room with someone else who tests positive will not be allowed to play. For this reason the organization strongly recommends against sharing a room.

Everyone must wear a mask at all times except when eating.

All fans must wear a mask.

    • Can’t imagine Serena agreeing to stay at the hotel especially as The Pullman has allowed regular guests to book during that time period. Does not sound safe to have people who presumably won’t be tested for Covid be around the players. Wondering if she and Patrick will convince the R.G. brass to grant an exemption based on her underlying health conditions.

  5. From what I have read the FO guidelines are even more restrictive than at the USOPEN. Players must stay at one of two hotels provided for so Serena will not be able to stay at her Paris residence, according to a report.

Players will not be able to be on tournament grounds unless they are playing that day.

Qualifiers will play behind closed doors.

I am wondering where players will stay the week before the main draw starts playing.

  6. The French Open announced tonight that they are reducing the number of fans allowed from 11,500 to 5,000 per day. Only the tickets sold for Court Chatrier will be honored.

Who knows as things progress whether this will be changed again before the start of the tournament.

    • The decision to reduce the number of tickets so dramatically is a wise move. Philippe Chatrier has a capacity of 15,225, so there will be sufficient space between spectators. I presume that the other spectators whose tickets won’t be honoured, will get a refund or be allowed to carry their tickets over to next year.

    • Margo, is Rafa on for tomorrow and if so, do you know what time? Thx! 😊

      RAFA’MAZING ROCKS! 🎾💪🏼😍

      • As of now Rafa is on tomorrow @ 1pm local time. If there are any changes, other fans will probably let us know.

If it makes anyone feel better, Rafa wasn’t told what time his match would be yesterday until sometime Tuesday afternoon when he posted it on Twitter.

Reports are that Rafa was so happy to be back that he was hounding officials to tell him his Wednesday schedule. Sounds like Rafa on a mission. LOL
