Denis Shapovalov optimistic about Rafael Nadal’s injury

Rafael Nadal was forced to withdraw from his Paris Masters semi-final clash with Denis Shapovalov on Saturday afternoon due to an abdominal injury he sustained during his warm-up.

The Canadian youngster was asked about Rafa’s injury, and is hopeful that it isn’t anything serious.

I hope it’s nothing too serious. Hopefully he’s back and healthy for London.

I feel like he’s had an amazing season, and it would be great to see him healthy and playing well in London.

I think he can do really well there.

  1. Joyce, I could have written your post. I’m ONLY 73, but otherwise it’s uncanny. There are lots of older people who idolize Rafa. About 8 years ago I met a fan who’s a few years older than me. She had posted something that a really scary guy ripped into her about. I didn’t know her but l answered her & said how she didn’t deserve his venom. We corresponded & got him kicked off the website. We are both rabid Rafa fans & grandmothers. We decided to start a fan club called “Grannies for Rafa”. Jane lives in Tunisia, I live in Richmond VA. We had 3 other members, in Canada, England & I don’t remember the other one. Unfortunately, it fizzled out after a couple of years. Jane from Tunisia & I have messaged a lot & have become great friends. She was so lucky to go to a tournament in Dubai where Rafa was playing. She waited by the exit area holding Rafa’s book. He stopped to autograph it and brushed against her arm. She’ll never forget that!!
