World No. 2 Rafael Nadal advanced to the quarterfinals of the Monte Carlo Masters by beating Grigor Dimitrov 6-4, 6-1 on Wednesday afternoon.
It was Rafa’s 70th match win at this tournament, his highest total at any ATP Masters 1000 event.
Our champ needed 1 1/2 hours to beat the Bulgarian and improve to 12-2 on the season.
He will next play Guido Pella for a place in the semi-finals of the event.

Happy that Rafa is still on track for his 12th MC winner’s trophy.
He should have no problem beating Guido Pella for a 3rd win. In their 2 previous meetings, Rafa demolished Pella in 2017 and 2018 at Indian Wells 6-3, 6-2, and the FO 6-2, 6-1, 6-1 respectively.

Rafa will only win his 12th MC Trophy if one of these two events happen:
1. Novak suddenly becomes injured and cant play anymore.
2. Novak suffers an upset before the final match
Novak is healthy right now hence the possibility / probability of (1) happening is 0.000001%
With the shock exit of Dominic Thiem, there is nobody else remaining in the field who can take Novak out. So, Rafa has to do the ”dirty job” himself. Therefore, the possibility of an upset to Novak is also 0.000001%!
Hmmmn……giving consideration to all these, I’d not at all be surprised if Rafa turns up with a bandaged knee in the Sundat final against Novak.

Why go out of your way to always tear Rafa down? Just wish him good luck. Get a new crystal ball and think positive thoughts. You’ll be a better person for it.
