Rio Open Semifinals: Rafael Nadal vs. Pablo Andujar

After defeating Joao Sousa in a landslide 6-1, 6-0 victory in the quarterfinals, Rafael Nadal moves on to the Rio Open semifinal, where he will face countryman Pablo Andujar. Rafa will take on a fellow Spaniard for the third time this week. The world No. 1 has already posted wins over Daniel Gimeno-Traver and Albert Montanes and will now face Andujar, which will be his 117th encounter with a fellow Spaniard (101-15). The 27-year-old’s first outing against a compatriot came in Monte Carlo 11 years ago when he defeated Albert Costa in the 3R. Nadal has now won 31 of his last 33 meetings against Spaniards with his last defeat coming to Ferrer in the Paris SF last year. Nadal is bidding to reach his 88th ATP World Tour final today.
