Rafael Nadal defeated Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka to reach the semifinals at the Shanghai Rolex Masters on Friday.
The victory wasn’t as straightforward as the last two in this tournament. The first set was played evenly on both sides, with no breaks for either player. It resulted in a tie breaker that lasted 23 minutes and 22 points. Rafa broke through with a 12-10 win to take the set at 7-6(10). Rafa broke in the second game of the second set to take a 2-0 lead. He got a second break at 4-0. There was no stopping Rafa from then on. He took the set and the match at 6-1.
Rafa will face Juan Martin Del Potro in the semifinals on Saturday.
