We posted earlier today via Twitter that Rafael Nadal had pulled out of the Gerry Weber Open at Halle and had decided to adjust his schedule for some rest. We now have official confirmation from Rafa that this is indeed so. Here is what was posted on his Facebook page:
Tournament officials were gracious in acknowledging Rafa’s withdrawal. “It is a shame and regrettable that Rafael cannot come, but I can understand his decision,” said tournament director Ralf Weber. “I know that it was not an easy one to take, but the player’s health comes first.”
Here’s wishing Rafa a quick recovery and a successful grass court season.
