Earlier today, Carlos defeated Griekspoor 6-1, 7-6(3). However, the Spanish duo faces a tough challenge ahead. Koolhof, a Grand Slam champion in doubles from Wimbledon last year and a semifinalist at the 2020 French Open, also won the mixed doubles title at Roland Garros in 2022.
Griekspoor and Koolhof have played only twice together before the Olympic Games. The first time was in 2023 at the Davis Cup when they lost against Sinner and Sonego in straight sets. Earlier this year, Griekspoor and Koolhof tried their luck in Madrid, but fell short against Granollers and Zeballos in the first round. Here in Paris, Griekspoor and Koolhof won their first round match against Fucsovics and Marozsan in easy straight sets.
Good luck & Vamos Nadalcaraz!

Rafa, we are glad you will move on to the Olympic doubles matches with Carlos and no longer have the stress of winning the singles. Your 2024 reminds me of the 2015 and 2016 years when you came back from two nervy years of tennis. Boy did you do so well in 2017! Hoping you find your best tennis again and stay healthy! A repeat of 2017 would be awesome for Baby Rafa to witness. It will be challenging but you are determined to make it happen.
Rafa and Carlos, we love your partnership in the doubles. Carlos shows you tremendous respect and learns so quickly from you. We wish you both the best the rest of the way. We’d love to see you win the gold medal in doubles.
Rafa and Carlos, we will continue to watch you play sizzling doubles tennis and cheer you on to the gold!
Despite his disappointment at losing in the singles, Rafa said he already turned his focus to the doubles and will “play to the death….” That’s the fighting spirit we’re so used to.
Good luck to Rafa and Carlos.
Rafa and Carlos, good luck in the doubles!
Rafa has picked Carlos as his successor in singles, so I would much rather have Carlos win the Olympic singles gold than anyone else left in the singles draw.
Besides Carlos, I’d pick Casper Ruud too to win a medal. Casper, Carlos, please win the gold and deny evil Djokovic the one title he is desperate to win. You both have beaten Djokovic this year and can do it again.
Trisha B, I feel the same way. I think Carlos will demolish Novak Djokovic every time they play after Carlos annihilated Djokovic in the Wimbledon final. Carlos overpowers him.
Hoping Carlos will be ok for tomorrow after taking medical time today. Good luck team Spain!
Good luck and Vamos ❤️❤️❤️
Always there for your next challenge, Rafa. All the best with Carlos👏🤛💪👍🎾🍀❤️
