  1. Margo, as we all know what we personally think is no reflection on Rafa’s character, I am entitled to wish another Spaniard to win over Novak especially when he act like a spoiled little boy when he doesn’t get his own way , behaviour which Rafa probably would not approve of. I would think if Rafa ever did read comments on this site ( very unlikely) he would be more upset with your comments on the constant talk about his ocd and the assumption that his family never got help for him when he was younger

    • Maria, I find the only way to enjoy this site is not to read Margo’s posts. She is a rude, irritating, arrogant know-all. She thinks she knows better than Rafa, his team, his fans and the site organisers. She’ll be offering to play next.

  2. Rafa your academy seems a wonderful place and it will keep you very involved in tennis when you finally decide to retire.
By the way I have just seen that Bautista-Agut defeated Djokovic in the semi finals at Shanghai.
This young man appears to be playing very well lately. A future Spanish star? I say future because in my eyes Rafa is still the star regardless of current losses.

  3. Yes Rafa, you just attended and participated in your friend Nole’s fundraiser for his foundation to help children. I apologize for all here who are expressing schadenfreude for Nole’s loss at Shanghai. It would not be in character for you to behave in such a manner. I hope that you don’t think their behavior is a reflection of you. Your fans know that you hold yourself to higher standards.

    RAFA ROCKS

    • It may not be in Rafa’s character but it is in Novak’s. These are highly competitive young men and the relief and barely disguised hope and delight that Rafa has been injured or lost has sometimes been obvious in pressers. The relief and delight on Novak’s face that Rafa went out of RG this year was noticable. Andy and Novak (to a lesser extent) have been riding on Rafa’s demise and they know it. Andy was so disappointed when a resurgent Rafa beat him this year that he made sour comments on court and to the press about doping. Something I find hard to forgive as one of his supporters. It was so bad even Rafa mentioned to the press that he spoke to Andy about it. Get real, Rafa has an unusual and exceptional character but his competitors do not.

      • Don’t be so rude with “get real.” I guess you were never taught that two wrongs don’t make a right.
It is seldom that I watch Andy and rarely watch Nole unless it is against Rafa. If anything, it has been Juan Martin DelPotro’s return to the circuit that has piqued my interest.

        RAFA ROCKS

    • Rudeness is talking down to people as though they were children, apologising for their behaviour. This is a sport, a highly competitive one where people usually express extreme opinions and have biased allegiances – good or bad. Sport is expressive and reflects the passion of its fans. Dictating exemplary modes of behaviour and your ‘moral standards’ is rude and patronising. Most of the opinions are reactionary – which shows the emotional investment and love of the game. We are intelligent adults that can moderate our own responses.

  4. Susie so glad you caught it . What a great start to the weekend , hopefully he can bring it home for Spain ( sorry Andy)

  5. Worry not Maria- I couldn’t help but switch on after you told us what was going on and saw it from 4-3 on in 2nd set. Fabulous result

  6. YIPEE Batista Agut has just knocked Novak out of the competition , maybe not the Spaniard I wanted to do this but I will take it. Sorry for being so petty but with Rafa out of the competition I have to get my enjoyment somewhere😂😀😁

  7. With Rafa out of this competition it’s still worth watching as right now a Spaniard Roberto Batista Agut has just taken the first set against Djokovic . Novak in his normal fashion bashed the hell out of his racket . There neck and neck in the second set but when Novak lost a point another tantrum arose where he preceded to rip his shirt . Update Novak has just been broken again . OH dear what a shame NOT . Looks like Novak’s game is unraveling at last.

    • What do you base your opinion on about Rafa being fine after Shanghai? His presser is an unequivocal statement to the contrary.
