Rafael Nadal on his way to Paris

Rafael Nadal is determined to “arrive in good shape” for his final two tournaments of 2013: next week’s Paris Masters and the ATP World Tour Finals in London.

“After an almost perfect year, if I don’t win anything else, I’ll go home with a great feeling because it’s been an unforgettable year for me. No doubt one of the best of my career,” the world No.1 said on Friday before travelling to Paris.

“There are two tournaments left and I’ll try to arrive in good shape, with a good feeling in my game, now that the overall sensation has already been achieved,” he said.

Nadal, who has been training in recent days on a fast hard court in his hometown of Manacor, on the Spanish Mediterranean island of Mallorca, said the Paris Masters and the ATP World Tour Finals were “difficult tournaments” considering his style of play.

“They’re very demanding and historically I’ve always struggled, especially due to the indoor hard courts, but I’ll try to give an extra effort to play at a good level. You can’t always reach the finals of every tournament and what’s happened this year probably will never happen again. I enjoyed all of it.”
