Roger Federer’s final moments of his tennis career will be shown in a documentary. The 20-time grand slam singles champion and eight-time Wimbledon winner retired in 2022 after a Laver Cup appearance in London. British filmmaker Asif Kapadia will direct the Amazon Prime Video feature looking at the final 12 days of Federer’s professional career.
The untitled Federer documentary – for which an official release date has not been announced – will include interviews with Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray, who were all part of Team Europe for the Laver Cup.

“If he is healthy he will always be one of the favorites wherever he goes. He’s missing games. He has won so many times at Roland Garros that he will always be the favorite. There is no one who knows the tournament better,” the Swiss said.
“Rafa is a great champion and he has already been injured before and came back. It doesn’t matter what you have earned or how much money you have, if you feel that passion you want to continue. In Brisbane, he was playing at a high level before getting injured again. If he is healthy he will be a danger to everyone and a candidate for big titles,” Wawrinka said.

Once upon a time, the ATP Tour’s season started in Doha, Qatar, meaning that the Persian Gulf city became the site of many iconic promotional events over the years.
Between 2009 and 2012, Doha tapped the world’s top players Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal for a series of exhibition matches to kick off the season each year. And as their rivalry defined this era of tennis, each match had to be bigger and more over the top than the last.

Rafa captured the title at the Balearic Mid Amateur Golf Championship. He shot a two-round total of 147, which is three over par, to take the title. Nadal finished seven strokes ahead of the second-place finisher.

Back to the documentary, I am not surprised these two have struck a friendship that seems to go beyond their time in myriads of courts.
