Nadal’s team reportedly confirmed to Cadena SER that the 22-time Grand Slam champion is going through difficulties and is ‘not feeling 100% well’.

The report suggested that the 36-year-old has good and bad days, with Nadal planning to postpone his return as long as necessary to make sure he feels comfortable on the court again.

Sports newspaper Diario AS also reported that Nadal was ‘90%’ likely to withdraw from the Barcelona Open, where he has been champion 12 times.

The paper suggested that the Mallorcan is doubtful for the biggest event in Spain, the Madrid Open, as well with the Masters 1000 event beginning the 26th April.

“The one I was thrilled to hear from, Rafael Nadal left me a very nice voice message,” Rahm said ahead to teeing up again at the RSM Classic this week in South Carolina.

“I’ve seen him do unbelievable things, and I’ve texted him every time. He left me a very nice message.”

The Greek is now aiming to become only the third player to win the competition on three successive occasions, with the other two being Rafael Nadal and Ilie Nastase.

Tsitsipas recently claimed that no player could compare themselves to Nadal in Monte-Carlo or anywhere on clay unless they came from a different planet.

“To compare yourself to Nadal here, or anywhere else on clay, you have to come from another planet,” Stefanos Tsitsipas told Eurosport.

  1. My king of tennis, you must do what is best for you always. Not something that comes easy to such a wonderful man. I have never seen a better tennis player!! Never will. So if you feel healthy come back. But if not live your life my Dear Rafa…we have been so lucky to have you all these years. I and all your fans will never forget you. Nor will history and generations of new players. Thank you for the best years of my life. If you do come back it will be another special moment. But please live , you have a family now. Buissness, so much to do. You will never get bored. ❤️🌹😉🙃🙂😘❤️

  2. Rafa should not rush his comeback . We all want to see Rafa win Roland Garros but if Rafa is not fully recovered , it would be disappointing if he played hurt or lost because he wasn’t ready . Rafa knows best .

  3. The first day of Roland Harris is May 28. The first day of Wimbledon is July 3. Here’s hoping Rafa can compete!

But as everyone here is saying, Rafa’s health is the priority. We will cheer you on when you are ready.

  4. Please be well first of all. You are too precious to your family and fans to put yourself in jeopardy . We all know what your soul wants, that is to play well. Perhaps not right now is the time for that. You will disappoint yourself if too soon to play. We love the person you are first of all, the player second.

  5. You are greatly missed.
Get better and no matter what you are the best player I have ever seen

    • I am a huge fan, and love watching you play…the point to point intensity and enthusiasm, but most of all your great sportsmanship…. having said that….getting healthy is far more important than another match or trophy….so come back when you are 100%, and if not its been an incredible ride….you are the GOAT!
