Rafa leads 6-3 head-to-head against Nick. This season, they played in the quarterfinals of the Indian Wells Masters, with our champ winning 7-6(0), 5-7, 6-4.

Rafa on playing Nick:

“I hope to be ready to play it. Then Nick is a great player on all the surfaces but especially on grass. He’s having a great grass court season. I need to be at 100 percent to keep having chances.”

Nick has won 21 out of 27 matches so far this season, reaching the quarterfinals of the Indian Wells Masters and the semifinals of the Halle Open.

Rafa is bidding to win Roland Garros and Wimbledon in the same year for the 3rd time and equal Bjorn Borg’s all-time record of 3 back-to-back men’s singles titles in Paris and London. Borg achieved the feat in 3 consecutive years (1978-80), while Rafa won Roland Garros and Wimbledon back-to-back in 2008 and 2010.

GOOD LUCK & VAMOS RAFA!

  1. I live in Las Vegas and typically get news from abroad later due to being asleep… Just seeing all of the news about withdraw and abdominal tear. Heartbreaking on so many levels. Heal up, Rafa. I’ll take a withdrawal from a tournament over total tennis retirement any day!!! Heal and keep playing!!!

    • I don’t think he should play. Why risk further injury when he knows that he can’t beat Kyrgios on grass unless he can hold his own serve which he won’t be able to do with an abdominal tear. I don’t want an injured Rafa to give the talented but obnoxious Kyrgios the satisfaction of beating him.

  2. If you’re not at 100%, don’t jeopardize your year by playing.

    Always #vamosRafa

Well you won’t be now will you, Rafa? Just have fun and reward the crowd with your appearance.
