(AP) – Former tennis star Chris Evert has been diagnosed with an early stage of ovarian cancer.

Evert, 67, revealed the illness in a story posted Friday on ESPN.com; she is an on-air announcer for ESPN.

  1. God bless you, Chrissie!! You have always been the epitome of class, grace, and dignity. Following your career from the beginning, you have remained my favorite female tennis player, and I will continue my prayers for you. Take care, and know how much I love and respect you. xoxoxo

  2. Terrible news! A few years ago ovarian cancer was a death sentence. But cancer treatment has been progressing fast. Really hope Chris beats this!!!
