According to Roger in his on court interview, he said he had a pain in his groin, but it felt much better after the treatment. Is his knee an additional problem?
I don’t know. First Eurosport said it was his back, then they said it was his groin, then they said it was his knee! I assume it’s only one injury, but it seemed to keep moving about 🙂 .
Roger’s got a knee injury: it was amazing that he managed to win today. He’s also had 3 long matches and is probably knackered. I’m frustrated that Tsitsipas lost to Raonic, because I think he’d have made more of a match of it today, but there’s not much to be done about it. One match a time, though – Thiem will be a tough opponent.

T sandgren had 8 match points and couldn’t convert any. While Federer was hurting and could barely play. Fed said later that he was waiting for tennis to finish him off, anyways it will djoker against roger. Looking forward to tomorrow’s match. Go rafa
So the usual three suspects are through to the semis. Raonic was disappointing against Djockovic and he probably needed fifty or more aces to get through that wall. He couldn’t even take advantage of Dockovic’s so called lens problem. Right now Djockovic must feel that he’s invincible, and with all the confidence he has, and I can see why. Who’s gonna knock him off his perch? I really don’t know. Kyrgios would have been the ideal person – shame he wasn’t on the same side of the draw.
Good luck Rafa in your QF match against Thiem. You will do it!
A great match played in good spirit. Both players gave everything they had and that’s normal for Rafa, but it was good to see Nick’s full focus and commitment throughout the match.
On court, Rafa let his racquet do the talking and off it, he demonstrated that he can put aside all the abuse he’s received from Nick and praise his ability, but also give constructive criticism. Nick could learn a lot from Rafa’s masterclass in conduct, integrity and humility.
Right! I have never admired Rafa more for his sheer class than during this tournament. He refused to get drawn into a “feud” with Nick despite the media goading him. He maintained a balanced and factual attitude throughout. Nick behaved quite well during this tournament too, acknowledging Rafa’s abilities and accomplishments. It’ll be interesting to see where he goes from here. NK did make an effort during and after Acapulco but crashed and burned. Honestly I feel Rafa challenged him there to live up to his talents instead of giving in to his impulses. He bitterly resented Rafa for that. We’ll see what happens next. Top level tennis requires hard work and sacrifice, no matter how “talented” you are.
I still think kyrios should get fined for his racquet during match. He could have hurt someone. It is childish. Maybe he will become a man someday instead of remaining a spoiled brat jackass.
NK is currently on a 6 month probationary period. Shouldn’t breaking the racquet extend it?
RR, true that he is on a 6-month probationary suspension but it doesn’t apply at the AO. It’s like a kind of immunity because he is playing at a Slam.
Slams have their own governing bodies.

Rafa gave his honest assessment of what NK is capable of IF HE PLAYS the way he has been throughout this AO. Unlike most, Rafa is able to be honest about someone even if he may dislike or disagree with that someone. It’s called being objective. Bravo Rafa.
Rafa’s post-match on-court interview with McEnroe was just as objective. It was one of his best.
Looking at McEnroe I am worried that he is not well. He seemed to be using his right arm to keep himself balanced. I hope he is ok.

I think we should be more concerned about with Rafa’s future in this tournament rather than focus on good, old Jonny Mac.
It’s not looking too good for Rafa any which way.
The semifinal will be between Novak and Federer, and Federer is not playing too good right now. Had Tennys Sandgreen being smart or experienced enough, he ought to have taken Roger out. As it is, Novak will defeat Roger even with his eyes closed.
Stefanos Tsitsipas, who was the most likely person to show Djokovic the door, was annihilated by Milos who is now being annihilated by Novak.
PROPOSED PERMUTATION FOR RAFA
If Rafa beats Thiem, he sails into the semis and still retains No 1 ranking even if he reaches the final and loses. So, why should Rafa suffer another humiliating defeat in the hands of Novak at the final.
If Rafa wins the semis, he is most likely to face Alexander ”sacha” Zverev who is right now on fire. Ordinarily, Rafa should defeat Zverev, however, he needs to protect his head to head with Djokovic and the gap is widening by the day. Hmmn…..what is the smart thing to do next?
Ofcourse, Rafa is very smart and he already has it figured out. He has done it beforer and he will do it again in the semis – whether it’s with Zverev or Stanimal.
Don’t be surprised when you hear that Rafa lost in the semis! Rafa’s only being smart and it is the right thing to do…….
