Too bad he had to be injured at Paris Masters, if not he would’ve a good chance of securing the YE no.1 there, for I feel he’d played better tennis than anyone there, including Djoko!
Rafa had tougher opponents at Paris, Mannarino and Wawa in first two matches vs Djoko’s no.97 Moutet and no.75 Edmund, yet Djoko was pushed to a TB in each match. Tsitsipas was disappointing vs Djoko, compared to how Tsonga played vs Rafa in the QF.
Tsitsipas was particularly disappointing in the way he served when he was serving out wide most of the time despite Djoko returning them time and again so successfully. When he did serve DTT, he won the point! Tsitsipas’s FH also failed him, making UEs more often than his BH.
Tsonga OTOH served a bigger serve consistently and DTT often, so Rafa had a tough time returning them yet Rafa managed to break serves in the second set to win in straight.
I would expect Rafa to beat Shapo too in the SF had they played.
I hope Rafa is fit to play at WTF, he may have to play Djoko in the SF or Final, if he’s good enough to play; and may have to depend on himself to win the YE no. 1 ranking.

After Rafa’s early injuries and his slow start in his beloved clay season, I never thought Rafa would have such a great year. I am especially happy that he played so well on hard courts.. Even if Rafa is only number one for two weeks, it is still a remarkable achievement. Rafa is always number one to his fans.
