ATP Finals 2019: Will Rafael Nadal play in London?

Rafael Nadal hopes to be ready for the ATP Finals in seven days with the draw set to take place on Tuesday.

  1. Since he’s having dinner in London its a good sign he is also there for the ATP round robin finals. Would really love to see him win the matches he needs to stay at #1 yr end. Good luck Rafa. Im pulling for you to win the whole thing, as I’m sure all your devoted fans are wishing the same.

  2. YES. It is confirmed. Rafa will play in the ATP finals despite his injuries.
    This shows that he will fight to the very end, and that marks what it is to be a true sportsman.

    We will have our fingers crossed and hopefully end the year as Rank no 1.

  3. So sad for Rafa. Fingers crossed for London.
    Also after some advice…planning on going to Barcelona and hopefully see Rafa live for the first time. Anyone got any view on the best day to go? We are there Monday to Thursday.

    • He usually gets a walkover so won’t play until Tuesday or Wednesday. Go early on the other days – head over to the practise courts which are outside the grounds. Follow the grounds around to your left. He practices on the same court at about the same time everyday (from memory 9.30-10.30) but the best place to check is Twitter. It’s very small and intimate. They will let you in if you have a ticket.

      • What walkover are you talking about?? This ain’t any masters 1000. This is season ending ATP finals which has a round robin format. Two groups of four players each. The top two from each group advance to the semis. Okay??

      • I think Tiggy was talking about the Barcelona Open, not the ATP finals. But I think the top eight players are rewarded with a bye, not a walkover though. Either way, a player advances to the next round without playing a match. I was there this year and Rafa started on Wednesday.

  8. With not much time left, it’ll be touch and go as to whether Rafa will be in London and it will depend on the extent of the muscle strain. Personally, i think it’s doubtful as this type of injury requires rest. I know he is eager to participate in the Davis Cup for his country, so all we can do is wait and see.
    All the best, Rafa, for a speedy and full recovery. Meanwhile, i hope that Shapo continues his excellent run. It’s going to be hard to beat Novak, but it’s definitely possible. Good luck Shapo.
