Rafael Nadal beats Stan Wawrinka to earn 50th win of the season in Paris [PHOTOS]

Rafael Nadal scored his 50th win of the season with a 6-4, 6-4 triumph over No. 16 seed Stan Wawrinka in the third round at the Rolex Paris Masters. The match lasted one hour and 27 minutes.

Rafa won 30 of 39 points on his first serve and did not drop serve in the match.

The second-seeded Spaniard is the fifth man this season to win 50 or more matches (Medvedev 59, Federer 51, Djokovic 50, Tsitsipas 50). It marks the 11th time in Rafa’s career he’s won 50 or more matches in a season.

It was a match with not many rallies. I played with some mistakes but at the same time I played well with my serve so I was able to be comfortable with my serve.

On the return it was difficult today to find opportunities but the important thing was that when I had opportunities, I played with the right determination.

I’m very happy. It is an important victory against a very tough opponent.

The 19-time Grand Slam champion will face French wildcard Jo-Wilfried Tsonga for a semifinal spot.

I do have my concerns. This is the third stomach issue Rafa has had; May, September, and now in October. Hope it’s nothing to worry about.
