French reporter fascinated by Rafael Nadal’s shirt

Rafael Nadal discussed his victory over Fernando Verdasco in Rome while sporting a white shirt with a tiger on the front and the tagline ‘If Anyone Can.’

As Sports Illustrated reports, our champ paid tribute to fellow Nike athlete Tiger Woods, who won the Masters last month in Augusta for his 81st PGA Tour victory. Rafa holds 80 ATP Tour titles. If Rafa makes it to the finals on Sunday and can record a victory, he’ll join Woods with 81 career trophies.

This is not the first time Rafa wore that shirt, but it seems like these days some reporters were more focused on his clothes than words. 🙂

  1. While Rafael may admire Woods’ athletic achievements, it cannot be denied that there is a serious
problem in Tiger’s character considering the choices he has made in his life. He may be a stellar golfer, but what he has done to his family is more debilitating than any pain in the back. Pathetic and sad. No ugly green jacket can compare to adoration from your own child.

  2. Tiger Woods might be able to hit the gold ball great but he is not a good sportsman when he makes cruel and mean remarks to the guys he is playing with. I have no respect for him and now he is getting sued for allowing someone to drink to much at the Woods bar and he got killed. I love Rafa he is a great sportsman and brings much joy and excitement to the sport not so much for Tigger Woods yuck

  3. Rafa is right – he doesn’t judge Woods as a person but focused on Woods being a professional sportsman, and admires his golf skills and achievements, and his professionalism.

Whatever happened in Woods private life is his own problem, just like whatever happened in our private lives are our own; he’s not a religious leader so he not keeping up on the moral front shouldn’t affect how he’s viewed as a professional sportsman.

I like Rafa being so truthful in admiring a sportsperson, not afraid to show his admiration regardless of what happened in Woods personal life, unlike someone else who quickly cut off the friendship once he sees it affecting his own professional image.

Let Woods be judged on the moral front somewhere else someday…

    • Great and fair comment . This is about sportin schirvemenent , as you say , not his personal life . I admire Rafa as a person and sports person . I admire Tiger as a great golfer .
Great performance on court by Rafa v Verdasco . I feel confident that he will reverse the Madrid results. Go champ , he are such a great role model .

    • Well, I don’t think you can separate or cut a human being in 2. A person should be evaluated as a whole. If not, you can admire OJ Simpson too.

  4. I was fascinated by Rafa’s shirt too! 🙂 Didn’t occur to me that it was a tribute to Tiger Woods. Rafa has admired Woods as a golfer/athlete ever since Rafa took up the game back in his teens. Rafa has always felt that athletes should be judged by their professional performances not by (what should be) their private lives. Whatever you feel about Woods his comeback has been inspiring. He’s been through the mill with his bad back, lots of surgeries and pain for years. For the record I couldn’t care less about Woods and I thoroughly detest Trump, his manners, his (im)morals and his politics.

  5. I can’t stand Tiger Woods. He can be a great golf player but for me, I still admire a good person. I don’t like seeing Rafa wearing that shirt. Federer was a great friend of him until the debacle. I don’t know now. He met with Trump, a racist and an amoral person. Many champions that are mixed race like him don’t accept that kind of invitation. This friendship doesn’t do Rafa any good. I admire Rafa because he is a good person and a champ, in that order. I can’t care less for someone like Tiger Woods.
