He deserves this win so much after all the pain he’s been through, all the injuries that kept him out of so many GS’s, the ones he couldn’t finish.

It seemed as if everyone had Serena pegged to win the women’s final. It didn’t happen.
We all know what Rafa is capable of doing on court but I was convinced he will win after his initial AO interviews. I even went as far as saying Rafa “oozes confidence.” Of course, confidence alone won’t win him the title but confidence coupled with his team’s approach to improve his serve, among other things [Rafael Plaza article], have given Rafa the tools and a boost of self assuredness to win his 18th Slam title, his 2nd Australian Open title, and a second career Grand Slam.
The pundits have Djokovic as the favorite but they are basing their decision on numbers, not on what Rafa has succeeded in doing going into the final. And they were ignoring Rafa until they noticed his improvements. One article by cbssports.com had Federer as the winner of Tsitsipas’s match. You can imagine my stupefaction when I read that! I asked them to make the correction or retract the article because Rafa won that match. The nerve!
