Rafael Nadal will make his comeback from a knee injury at the Paris Masters next week.  The world No. 1, who needs to match Novak Djokovic’s result this week to stay top of the rankings, will play the winner of the match between Fernando Verdasco and Jeremy Chardy in the second round.

Rafa is playing for the first time since suffering a knee injury at the US Open and he could meet Jack Sock in the third round before a clash with Dominic Thiem in the last eight.

Rafa’s potential route to the final:

  • 1st round: Bye
  • 2nd round: Fernando Verdasco or Jeremy Chardy
  • 3rd round: Jack Sock
  • Quarter-final: Dominic Thiem or Borna Coric
  • Semi-final: Alexander Zverev
  • Final: Novak Djokovic or Roger Federer

Projected quarterfinals:

  • Rafael Nadal vs Dominic Thiem
  • Alexander Zverev vs John Isner
  • Kevin Anderson vs Roger Federer
  • Novak Djokovic vs Marin Cilic

Our champ has never won the tournament in the French capital, but will be hoping to build some momentum ahead of next month’s ATP Finals in London.

  1. I just reviewed, several times, a clip of Rafa at practice. His left leg was doing most of the body-bearing work. This could mean three things; either he is being super careful, or he is in a lot of pain, or he is learning to play mostly on his left leg. I am opting for the latter.

Rafa usually learns how to play using a new method that will make up for a deficit. I trust this is the case now regarding his right knee.

Rafa is a master at resilience. All the best to him.

    RAFA ROCKS BERCY

  8. Thank you very much for the email! It is very exciting to receive an email about Rafa! It is so good to hear that he is feeling better! His great year has been so exciting to watch. I am so sorry he got injured. I have missed seeing him play, but very glad he took the time to recover. I am really looking forward to seeing him play again. Love and prayers for him. Vamos Rafa!

  9. Even though I miss Rafa terribly, I wish he had decided to forego Bercy and London for a longer recuperation period. Nevertheless, has my full support in his quest for both titles. Goodbye apprehension, hello to cheers for Rafa.

Good luck and good health Champ.

      • Well there is e have it. He has decided to play. Hoping his knee is as healed as it possibly can, under the circumstances.

Unpleasant yes, but I can’t help thinking about how he gave his right knee two powerful whacks recently with his racquet; could that have been a contributing factor that forced him to retire from the US Open. I, along with other fans and non-fans, may think of Rafa as super human. Rafa is a man with super human powers. I would prefer he vocally express his joy or anger. Leave the body out of it.

Here’s to great end-of-year performances from our world No. 1.

        RAFA IS ROCKING

  10. Suerte Rafa…deseo lo mejor para ti…k puedas jugar bien y k las lesiones se olviden d Rafael Nadal…adelante!!!!,,, siempre estarè contigo…
